Meet Kate! She is the amazing hair & makeup artist behind Kate Johnson Artistry.

For Kate growing up was like an being in a film from the 50’s, she was her mother’s living doll, wearing pink sponge rollers in her hair every night and trying out the newest colors and looks.

It wasn’t until she was in college studying for her BFA California State University, Fullerton that she discovered her love for design. After designing the makeup and hair for multiple university productions, she changed her degree to Special Effects Makeup and Hair for Film and Theatre.

After vising Chicago for the first time, she packed her bags and moved east finding success in print, film and commercials. As the Chicago Brand Ambassador to CoverGirl as well as being on the CNN artistry team her celebrity clientele is growing.  She  has been published in Glamour, Sports Illustrated, Idoll Magazine and Teen Magazine, to name a few. She also worked as an artist and trainer for companies such as Smashbox, Nars and Kevyn Aucoin, learning how to bring out the beauty in every skin type.

Currently the Makeup Designer for a feature film called Hunter where her FX background is used daily. In 2013 she was the designer for a film called Killing Poe, out Fall 2014.
