The number one question we get about elopements is “what do we do if it rains?” This is a prime example of embracing whatever Mother Nature throws your way on wedding day!

I met Sydney & Ivan at Olive Park. They arrived separately so that they would first see each other as she walked down the “aisle.” It had just started to sprinkle as we started the ceremony and was picking up force by the time they said I do. We were still determined to get that iconic Chicago Skyline in few photos so I busted out the umbrellas. Then things really started to get interested as it started to pour down rain. We made a run for it to the nearest cover (which isn’t very near!).

After waiting out the worst of the downpour for about 20 minutes we decided to proceed with our plans to go downtown to our second photo stop. It was still sprinkling, but eventually let up. The best part was that everyone had headed inside so the streets were almost empty! The city lights came up a little early since the storm had darkened the skies and it made for some of my absolute favorites at the end! Rain on your wedding day IS good luck!
