Chicago Riverwalk Pop Up Wedding: Rachel + Gio 10/10/18
Meet Rachel and Gio! Although these two have know each other since their high school years when Gio used to do the scoreboard at her volleyball games, it wasn’t until later that they began dating. And 6 years after that…. here we are!
I met them at their hotel where Rachel was getting dressed and hanging out with their dog Riggins. It had been raining all day and all we could do was hope that it would clear up like the forecast was saying it would. These two kept me laughing all day. So no matter what the weather threw our way I knew we’d figure it out.
We completely changed our original plans (thank for nothing Mother Nature) but at the end of the day it may have even been better! That’s what I love about doing these type of weddings. When you don’t have to worry about 200 people or trying to figure out what to do with a 20 person wedding party when it’s raining things are much easier to adjust.
So after first look at the hotel we headed to the Cultural Center. Shout out to the Dana Hotel for letting us up to the bar area before it opened since it was raining! Before we left we had decided to stick with our plan for an outdoor ceremony, but we moved locations to the riverwalk. Our original spot was out by the lake and if it were to start raining there wasn’t cover anywhere nearby. At least this way we could easily sneak in a building nearby if the worst happened.
By some miracle the rain stopped. They said their I do’s and just as Gio’s father was mentioned during the ceremony the sun broke through the clouds. I don’t usually believe in signs, but if that wasn’t one I don’t know what is! The sun continued to stick around for some family photos and a few shots with the newlyweds before they headed off to dinner at Quartino’s!
Here are some of my favorites from their day!
