I love the holiday season in Chicago and this wedding basically sums up why! There is something about falling snow, city lights and holiday vibes that just makes me smile from ear to ear!

So when Kelly contacted me about shooting this wedding I was thrilled. And I was secretly hoping for some snow. Mother Nature delivered!

I met them at Hotel Allegro for first look before we headed out into the cold for some photos at LaSalle Bridge. They were troopers as it was not warm to put it nicely! We got a few fresh flakes falling just as we were wrapping up, but the real luck came later that evening.

We bundled up and headed back to the hotel to join their families and few guests for the ceremony, cocktails and photos. I’m not going to lie, I cried during this one. If someone else cries, I cry. Every single time!

Before they headed off to dinner we wanted to do a few night photos. We stepped outside and within 10 seconds it started snowing. Big beautiful flakes. My happy photographer level went through the roof. So I started setting up my lighting and just then the CTA Holiday Train pulled up at the stop by the hotel. For those of you not familiar with it, every year the CTA decks out a train in Holiday lights complete with a Santa and everything. I’ve lived here for 5 + years and this was the first time I’ve seen it in person. I freaked out. And then I knew I had about 1 minute to get a photo in before it left that stop and I’m pretty sure I’ve never moved so fast in my entire life! See below for the photo! It was a holiday miracle!

A special shout out to Carrie, our other team photographer, who assisted me on this shoot. I had her running around in the snow holding lights like a crazy person!
