Willis Tower Skydeck Elopement : Nicci + Stephen 3/11/15
Welcome to the elopement that almost gave me a heart attack! haha. I am not good with heights and by not good I mean I usually have minor panic attacks even thinking about being up too high. So when Nicci contact me about shooting at the Skydeck I was excited… but terrified. It’s an amazing and unique experience and a one of a kind place for an elopement, but hanging off the side of a building 103 stories up in a glass box is pretty much my nightmare! (Spoiler alert I survived).
I met them at their hotel for the final touches of getting ready before heading off to Willis Tower. To get married here you must make a reservation for The Ledge (aka the glass boxes) and you can only do it before or after the hours they are open to the public (before 10am or after 8pm) so we were up and ready bright and early! After several elevator rides we found ourselves at the top with amazing views of the city. I’m sure there is some reason why the box are on the west side, but I really wish they were on the north side for a better lake & skyline view (that’s easy to change right?!).
After a brief private ceremony in one of the skyboxes we had a few minutes to take some other photos before the crowds of people were let in. I know they had some good laughs watching me try to inch my way out into the box beside them to take some shots (as if somehow moving slower was going to help me not die?!). All in all we (and by we I mean I as they seemed fine with the height) survived and and I semi conquered my fear of the Skydeck!
From there it was off to Millenium Park, the Chicago Theatre and Kinzie Bridge to round out our Chicago photo stops. These two were such a blast to hang out with! I kind of didn’t want to leave, but I seriously doubt they wanted to spend their whole wedding day with me tagging along haha.
Congrats again! Here are some of my favorites!

She ordered these paper flowers from Etsy!
This is when I started panicking and I had to actually get in the box beside them to get these shots. Clearly they thought it was hilarious watching me inch out there.
Bean selfie! The only way I get in a shot with my elopement couples!
