St. Patrick’s Day Elopement: Michelle + Andrew 3/17/19
If you’ve ever been to Chicago on or around St. Patrick’s Day you know that it is a HUGE celebration here. Since 1962 huge crowds have been gathering to watch the Chicago River turn green! (Well with the exception of 2020). And the bars and streets are flooded with people for the parade and parties!
So when Michelle and Andrew told me they wanted to get married on St. Patrick’s Day because it is their favorite holiday I got worried about how we would pull it off with the crowds. Thankfully the river dyeing and parade are always the Saturday morning before March 17th. No matter what day the 17th actually falls on. So in this case, the partying was happening on the 16th and we got them married on actual St. Patrick’s Day afterall!
The river stays pretty bright green for about 48 hours so we still had a vibrant green backdrop for their ceremony. They got a hotel suite at Trump Tower that overlooked the river which was perfect for their private I do’s. March is usually still really cold here so having an indoor option for ceremony is key and the floor to ceiling city views are amazing!
After their ceremony we popped some champagne and soaked in the view before heading out. I love that Michelle switched to her jean jacket and Chuck Taylors for outdoor photos. I’m always a fan of being yourself! It was still chilly, but thankfully we didn’t need to fully bundle up and the sun was out. We walked out to the Wrigley Building and Michigan Ave right nearby and headed over to LaSalle Bridge for all the best green river angles and views!
Check out some of my favorites from their day below!
